Boxer Hockey is an obscure webcomic about a group of "friends" who compete globally in a fictional sport (that's more of a parody of modern sports) with ill defined rules. I originally had thought the series was going to be light hearted and somewhat dramatic, but it ended up having a tightly knit plot and continuity.

One of the reasons to like it is that the art is absolutely incredible, even from a short time after the beginning. Another reason is that the extra comics are just the best, such as the elaborate several part Sonic the Hedgehog parody/satire.

I wonder if I'm the only one that has read this, being such an obscure comic. It's nearly two hundred main strips long now.

Sounds pretty good from the first comic, though I'd say the rules are more "Extremely Flexible" than ill-defined, it sounded pretty definitive.

I like it but I don't regularly read it for the same reason I don't usually read After The Blast Wave. The first story arc took three years and that's way too damn long by anyone's standards. It's not VG Cats but it's still pretty bad.

Yeah, since the last post in my Boxer Hockey thread the comic has updated maybe 3 times.  It's just not fast enough even for a forum.

I really, really loved the Sonic parody comics, and was extremely disappointed that the real comic didn't have quite the same brand of humor. The skating eagle was also fantastic.

But yeah, I actually quit reading because after the first story arc it seemed to devolve into gag a day stuff that no longer dealt with the sport or long plots or anything. Could be wrong, of course.

Nowadays I just read really popular webcomics like Penny Arcade, or really geeky ones like Darths and Droids, or really embarrassing to admit ones like Misfile wait shit did I just say that.

It did, and the gag a day sort of ended as soon as the author figured out how to tie the current silliness into a longer story arc, and now here we are, all plot and no gags.
