Weather glitch? Snow in hot climate
« on: October 04, 2006, 01:08:00 am »

I just started a game in a "Hot" climate, and it just keeps snowing, and snowing... it's mid summer now and the storms keep coming.  The river hasn't frozen over but there is snow on the ground.  The dwarves complain about the storms, but the nearby gorillas don't seem to mind.

I restarted in a second "Hot" climate to be sure and got the same odd weather again.

The climate describes the sorts of things you can expect from outside, from one of the wilderness squares adjacent to the start site.  The fortress itself is on a mountain square that is higher up -- sometimes quite a bit higher up, so your actual temperature can be much lower.  It might...  indicate this somehow.  There's a lot of information to convey.

Aha, I understand.  I hadn't considered height being a factor but of course it makes sense.  Those jaguars and alligators are just wandering onto my snowy mountaintop from warmer areas nearby.  Probably lost, confused, and freezing their little butts off.

What an amazingly deep game this is Toady!  Thank you! ^_^
