Civilisation V LP
« on: March 02, 2011, 02:47:24 pm »

I'll be doing a Civ V LP slowly. Mainly because it is both a disappointment and a fresh and fun to play diversion from the usual civilization games.
I think they did drop the ball with this game, many people have had many problems with it graphically. I however haven't had a single lockup/crash. The AI is sometimes a bit strange, but i've never had any 'game breaking' retardation that other people seem to have encountered.
I'm not one to care about graphics, as many of you know I love old dos games with nothing but pixels for cities  :P, but they are pretty nice.

All that being said, I've played several MP games and quite a few SP ones before, the last patch or so I found to be a big improvement game play wise.
Probably the single worst part of this game is MP. It works, but not very well. Especially compared to all the previous civs. The devs really failed here. People have been making decent MP and modding capability for 20 years, including the games predecessors. If someone bought this game expecting the same quality MP as with any other Civ or Alpha Centauri, you will be extremely disappointed. Most of MP is non functioning, last time i tried it you couldn't even play with DLC nations in MP.
The game shines only in Single Player.

The primary question:

Who to be?

I'm liking Rome for my choice.
India are quite good too.

Nation list:

*I have babylon DLC, Mongols are free. I don't have the American ones.

Map type?

Archipelago, Continents? Middle?

Difficulty level?

Apparently I may have started this at a perfect time

Some good changes made, and finally DLC in MP. This probably fixes the balance issues. It's creeping towards being on par with the other civilizations now.

Rome is always cool.

Aren't you running about five different LPs at the moment?

The beginning: 4000BC - 2800BC

A beautiful place to settle, we will do well here. This river delta area will give us vast amounts of potential food production. From this we can create a grand capitol city! Filled with every kind of specialist citizen.
Also there is cotton nearby, and gold to the west a way.

Quickly after settling our warrior acting as a scout finds another tribe, the Americans. We are not alone here it seems.

Our warrior scouts a small settlement.

We meet another tribe, the Songhai.

The capitol focuses on food gathering, to increase its population.

We have found a military city state, we must watch them closely.

Mining is researched! we can now dig for gold in our gold deposit!

We can now use animals to further our goals.

A city state close by, a tasty target to attack.

Our civilisation has developed along the lines of a 'honor' based society.

The Songhai want to be friends..... we don't know them well enough yet.

Barbarians are spotted! our warriors(who got upgraded to spearmen from a hut) chase them down and slaughter them.

Our gold mine is constructed soon after!

Currently our goals are to expand, get a new city up the river a bit. Preferably near some hills to work as a productive city for our empire.

*I will resize the pics next time, I'm not used to playing games who's resolution outstrips forums  :P
