Some modding questions
« on: April 03, 2011, 01:30:58 pm »

I started making some simple mods to the game and I have a few questions for some mods that are in the data files.

Is it possible to replace the music in DF? and if you can, could you add more than one and play them randomly?

Can you add more than 16 colors? I know how to edit their RGB, but I don't know how to ad any more colors

Could I edit the mouse cursor? There's a cursor image in the files but it dosen't seem to be in the game anywhere.

Thanks, I would appreciate answers to any of these questions.

Not sure about anything, but for the second question, no.

Giant badgers are cruel saddistic balls of fur and hate. Did anyone know they could paint a wall with a single dwarven baby?.... You know what, I made the Giant badgers sound like sane DF players.

I think you can change the music by replacing data/sound/song_game.ogg and data/sound/song_intro.ogg

You'll need a way to convert the new file into an ogg file, however.

A lot of sound tools can convert .mp3 to ogg. You cannot have multiple songs, so they won't be randomized. I just compiled a few songs into one "soundtrack".

For the mouse, there is an init option for whether to use it.
