Increasing Embark Points
« on: March 05, 2011, 12:00:10 pm »

I know there is probably a ton of stuff on how to do this on the forums somewhere but how do I increase the number of point I can spend on equipment and stuff for the newest version of Dwarf Fortress (31.19 at the moment)?

When you generate the world, its one of the settings you can change, on the first page, right after the seed number options. It's limited to 10K

Or, you can alter the text file directly (in the init folder) and give yourself as much as you want.

If you have already generated a world, it's too late, you have to make a new one to change this.

In order to improve the universe's frame rate, we must all throw rocks into volcanoes and then do absolutely nothing, worldwide, for a week, to take pressure off pathfinding.
or maybe throw them into the large hadron collider to atom-smash them instead.
Not to mention to throw all available animals into tiny pits.

You can also go into the inorganics_metal file and reduce the value of embarkable metals, notably steel and the bronzes. Being alloys, those are always available even if your civ has no pure metals at all. However, it would probably be less work to take the seed and regen, as altering the amount of embark points shouldn't have any effect on... anything, really.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

You can also use cheatengine or artmoney to edit the points as you assign them for embark.

Is that for when you Create a New World or Design it with parameters?
