how do i mod out ghosts?

i must delete them from existence for freezing my game.

You don't.  Engrave a slab, or live with that one eternal caravan guard who got atom smashed.  Sorry, we all know the game has bugs!

What Girlinhat said. You should hurry too. I've lost a fort because of migrant ghosts. And it was an awesome embark too, with a funhouse and everything.

but they froze my game. unless speed 0 cancels out fps 0 i cant do anything.

 Do you have a ridiculous number of ghosts built up? What detail makes you so sure it's ghosts that are the problem?

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

i atom smashed a wave of 20 migrants a year or two ago and didnt give them slabs.
the best way to deal with this is to see if ghost are under the Undead section and can be removed by placing cannot undead tags on your dwarfs.
if not then Grab Dfusion and write a lua function to auto search for ghosts and slap on the dead flag, or turn them tangent and cage trap them. hopefully you have made a special sealed room for your undead pest for the long run.

They are undead, as far as the "units list" screen is concerned.

Seems that CANNOT_UNDEAD will save your fps, but maybe not your fort. This sounds like the kind of thing a regen might require, as it denys the existace of certain units already ingame. Anybody know for sure?

Whaaaaa?  You can CANNOT_UNDEAD a dwarf?  Really?

It seems most mods like this will change future instances in a fort.  So, any new migrants or children who arrive after the change, will then be unable to ghost, but the existing ghosts, and existing living, will be ghosts all they want.  At least this has been the general way with modding an existing thing.

Erecting a slab will remove the ghost, and IIRC, you can then remove the slab and re-engrave it.
