My steady cage trap industry.
« on: March 11, 2011, 05:19:35 am »

Hello. I have a fort with a small passage into the first levels and I have a steady stream of dralthas coming in. My only problem is that of them being exotic. Is the dungeon master fixed because I really want them to be tamed? So far I already have about 4 dralthas captured(within 5 minutes or so). Thanks!

EDIT: Durring this writing I have cought two more.
EDIT EDIT: Some elves came while I was editing! What should I do!? Should I sell the dralthas?
EDIT 3: I cought a goblin snatcher! Should I sell him?

Selling hostile (and non tame?) cretures is not possible. When the dwarves go to move the cage to depot the creature inside gets out.

I've never seen a dungeon master.

Remove the [PET_EXOTIC] tag from all exotic creatures. The Dungeon Master, like all other migrant nobles, is bugged.

It's treated as completely normal because this is Dwarf Fortress.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with a wall of flames, only to later realize that you're surrounded by a wall of flames.
There's nothing that can't be solved by hurling fifteen roc birds at it.

You probably saw it on the wiki. Well, ponder over the two pieces of information there:

"At this moment, getting a Dungeon master seems to be bugged, as very few to no players have ever acquired a Dungeon master. You need to get a Baron or Baroness first, say the raws."

"Some sources say that Dungeon Master's arrival has been fixed in version 0.31.13(Verify)."
So one info is certain, and the other needs to be verified. Hmm

Also, I never saw a dungeon master before. Just remove the [PET_EXOTIC] and tame giant tigers :P

Just a small correction, you want to modify the pet exotic tag to pet, or you still won't be able to tame them. I think the no exotics mod still works if you want an easy fix.

Thanks, I forgot about that.
Just replace(with notepad) _EXOTIC with a blank space and you're all set :D
