Port forwarding will vary between games. Can other games connect or is it pretty much everything?

Also, what are your pings like, and has your ISP blocked any ports?

Games that connect using ports instead of another system are almost always blocked, I can't join their games or they can't join mine.

Ping around 100-200 usually.

Have you tried using Hamachi? I had a similar problem with AoE2 before I switched ISPs, couldn't connect via TCP/IP but virtual LAN worked just fine.

Hamachi won't let him play on the general matchmaking though. I'd definately set up port forwarding and go through the tech support on the game's website on which ports they need, etc.

I don't think portforwarding will do anything since I already bypassed the router.

Forward the ports in Windows Firewall as well.
