Clusters still one z-level?

I've tried two fortresses recently, and both times I struck magnetite it was over 4 layers deep.  Admittedly possibly a coincidence, but one in 10,000+ chance is pretty rare.

As far as I know, this is still supposed to be 1 z-layer thick. But it is supposed to change in the near future.

I've seen my sphalerite and galena span up to 3 z-levels in a row, and definitely seem linked.  But that may be coincidence, as i've only had one .19 fort so far.

Sadly this happened in the second caverns, so most of the ore was lost to stippling.
