[38a] Pond punched hole through dwarven roof

Also, the save file: http://www.savefile.com/files/1363511

Apparently, a pond has punched a hole through the roof of a fortress, spilling the water over the floor and letting any adventurer see the light of day.

I had exactly the same thing in one of the old versions, possibly 33g I think. I just assumed it was because the silly dwarves had ignored their damp stone warnings and just carried on digging right through.

Happens in goblin fortresses too. Looked like they dug into a murky pool and kept on going.

Someone else somewhere mentioned an entire Dark fortress basement being flooded by a brook in the same manner.  Don't remember if it was actually reported in the bugs forum though.

I had that happen, and it was really awesome. I was like "Hey this basement is flooding!" and then a goblin was like "Yar die now!" and I never could explore the rest of that "basement". Would have been neat.

Feel sorry for that goblin. He was still in the "basement".

It's supposed to dry out all the pools in the area that they are trying to construct, to avoid this, but it seems to fail to do so at times.
