puppy chow?

In the new .19 animals need to graze.
What do dogs eat, do they need to be fed while in cages?
If they need meat will they kill vermin or other small animals to eat.
Will i need butchering to feed my dogs?

Only grazing animals need to eat.  Carnivorous, non-intelligent pets don't need to eat yet.

Your dwarves can eat cooked puppy meat, though, and you would need butchering to do that.
