When sleeping in adventurer mode, especially when there are monsters around, they eventually come over to you and beat you in your sleep until you die.  You'd think I would've woken up to fight back after a skeleton puts my leg in a lock.

Yeah, this is a common problem, especially with the key bindings the way they are.  Eventually sleep will have a prompt and you'll wake up after being attacked, unless you are paralyzed and can't feel it.
