On that note, I've just replayed an in-game 'live' performance by Blind Guardian for the third time.

I had no idea they wrote that song for a video game, first time I heard it was off of "At The Edge Of Time".  Blind Guardian are such neeeerds...I love it.

Eluveitie is way overrated imo.
Blind Guardian are pretty good, even though the game is kinda meh.

Listening to Trout Mask Replica again. It still adamantly refuses to make any sense.

Also trawling my way through my music in general, both on CD and on Spotify, so I'm listening to a happily eclectic mix of genres.

Speaking of live music, this year is looking better and better - I can get the money to go to more local gigs and I'm going to a number of big concerts and festivals in summer - namely Sonisphere and Bloodstock.

Any of you guys hear about Hala Strana?
He goes around eastern Europe, visiting the rural parts, records the sounds then makes it into music.I found only a few of his songs on YT, but he has some awesome stuff.A bit heavy at first and very very atmospheric i found it to fit perfectly with DF :)

Some Viking Metal

Amon Amarth - Embrace of the Endless Ocean  (it may sound wierd, but I feel like I deeply relate to this song)

A piano cover of the above

Manowar - Sons of Odin  (the ending monologue makes me laugh every time I hear it :D)

A sampling of Boom Boom Satellites (not metal)

Boom Boom Satellites - Dive for You

Boom Boom Satellites - Play

Boom Boom Satellites - Easy Action

Boom Boom Satellites - Back on My Feet

I find Capsule's music to be some of the best for mood cleansing.

Capsule - Sugarless Girl Remix

A couple of the best tracks to come out of OCRemix

The Dark Side of Phobos - The Glass Moon (E1M8)

Ocean - Wizball Transformation OC ReMix

This guy called Lulo Reinhardt, thinks himself some what of a gypsie, yet he has a house and is some what richer then I am. Some gypsie, he can't even tell the future! Still, bad ass on guitar.

These are brilliant.

Not that I've only just found these guys, just wanted to share.

Dear god I have had this song stuck in my head all day! Make it stop! MAKE IT STOP!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xnsn2M0-FQM

Come to think of it, you know what I want right now? Some metal, but not just any metal! I'm in the mood for metal with female vocals, but not just any female vocals! Female vocals that go for the soft, sweet type of vocals, rather then the ever so popuar school of power vocals. So, anybody know any such bands? Because I sure don't, and they seem to be hard to find.

You might try these two.

Epica - Chasing the Dragon

or

Battlelore - Longing Horizon
Battlelore - Dragonslayer

Battlelore has a very pleasant soft female vocalist, as well as a growler.  I'm not a fan of growling, but I find this guy tolerable.  All of their music is Tolkien-themed.

This thread lacking, let us fix that.

Jazz:
Sonny Rollins - St. Thomas
Sonny Rollins - Moritat
Ella Fitzgerald - Mack the Knife (Great improvisation towards the end)
John Coltrane - Blue Train
Count Basie - On O'Clock Jump

Jazz is the ultimate music genre. Don't get me wrong, I like rock and metal a lot, but nothing beats jazz.

Country:
Hank Williams - Why Don't You Love Me Like You Used to Do
Hank Williams - Move it on Over
Hank Williams - Lovesick Blues

You gotta love good Hank.

Electro/Country:
Rednex - Old Pop in an Oak
Rednex - Oh Susanna

Not much of an electro/techno fan, but the Rednex are good.

John Butler Trio. Very popular down here in Australia (I don't know there status over seas) and, unlike many mainstream bands, with good reason. They have a great groove, and what could be better then that?
