However a few spots get missed.  Namely the face.  This is where cloaks come in-  they can cover anything, and although they offer very little protection, it can mean the difference between a sever and a break against goblins.

Demons?  I'm not so sure.  But cloaks are good!

Might as well throw a few caps in with the helm too, and some hoods.  Socks, mittens, and trousers also.  It doesn't seem to hurt, at least.

Easy to produce, at least, though my men never seem to re-equip these things.  Once one rots away, they consider their uniform complete still, and don't seek a replacement.  It's rather odd...

Archer Alley (12 xbows in steel with silver bolts protected by next next defense)
Grizzly Gulch (50+ pissed off war grizzlies)
Ironclad Clash (Adamantine/Steel hybrid troops, 44 total - to engage if they make it past the archers)
Pokey Path (The aforementioned long hall of spikedy death)
First Steel Gate (to slow them down)
Ballista Barrage (Hallway with two silver-launching ballistae targetted [and statues to distract])
Dwarf-Washer (no real defense except vs. contagions)
Second Steel Gate (again, slowing and allowing ballistamen to escape)
Catapult Canyon (Corridor with catapult)
Zerg Rush Ridge (Throw the blackbears 'n stuff at 'em!)
Falling Falls (9x9 trapped room for crushinating)

If they can get past that, the fort is theirs.  But... can they!?

Let steel fight to save blood. Traps, caveins etc. first.

Exactly, your armydorfs should be the last line of defense. They will likely survive for a bit then start falling to syndroms and explosive demons. I had an entire 40-man legendary axedorf group fall to the demons due to their syndroms and their explosions
