What could mar the awesomeness of a dwarven statue, covered in the history of your fortress, that spits lava?
Looking at your creation in stonesense and discovering that it looks more like a mass of black stone running down a lumpy pillar with legs.

Where can I find some level-by-level blueprints of "standard" or "basic" megaproject statues like a 10-z-level tall dwarf, a 20-z-level-tall dwarf with a built-in pump stack, etc? If none exist, can someone who's made a good-looking-if-looked-at-in-three-dimensions statue or whatever post blueprints or something?

"Standard Megaproject" is a misnomer.  Every one of them is unique and custom built.  That's the beauty of it.  Being so difficult and easy to get wrong, is what makes them even more amazing.  Anyone's who's started on one will build a 10 Z tall spire, and then realize that this is actually very short and unimpressive.  So it gets redone, bigger and badder, with better materials and more intricate design.  That's what a megaproject is, it's a lot of work.

That's why "standard" was in "quotation marks."

I know MPs are unique, but I'm fine with losing a little uniqueness to make it look better.
