As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

If you want, use version 23a, the latest 2d version. I'll look up 22f utilities.

Ok, no utilities. How did you provoke frogmen attacks?

If you switch to version 0.23.130.23a, you'll be able to use Dwarf Manipulator, a DT-like tool I wrote a while ago. I've also written a tool that lets you forbid/chasm/melt items without having to go in the Stocks screen (though you'll still have to press Enter to view the item first - it's not quite as flexible as it is in 40d; also, forbidding items won't cancel any associated tasks).

I've got another tool that automatically forbids death drops, but it's somewhat glitchy at times and somewhat unreliable (random crashes, and dwarves will still run up to the corpse to pick up the items before giving up and running away). I wrote a better one a while ago which just forbids enemy possessions (exactly like how 0.31.xx behaves), but I never got around to releasing it - if you're interested, I'll see if I can post it.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
