Upward Ramp causes low FPS
« on: February 13, 2011, 05:46:19 pm »

whenever i designate to carve upward ramps, FPS goes from anything to 6 or 7.
but digging, channelling are fine.

Digging the ramps causes some very wonky pathfinding calculations, I think is the best way to put it.
the fps woes stop once they are done being dug though, so eh!

I only get visible FPS loss if I designate hundred or more of them.
And workaround: if they are close together only dig a small number and then designate the rest via channels.

yeah that's what i do for now...
designate a good amount of tiles
and then make tea.

but then i tested just then
designating hundreds of channelling tiles causes FPS to burn too, just not as prominent.

Well that large designations cause lack on their own is a known problem (essentially based on the fact that every single of these tiles seems to search for someone to mine it out). But I can verify that ramps cause more than normal digging.
