[38c] Save Corruption
« on: April 04, 2008, 10:47:00 am »

"One of the compressed files on disk has errors in it. Restore from backup if you are able." I didn't notice anything special beforehand, played for a few hours and saved, came back today and it's corrupt. I had it happen both on my local machine and at another machine with completely different seeds/fortresses. I've never saw one of these messages before this release. Could using that 'EZ' Dystopian Rhetoric graphic set screw something up?

It's happened occasionally for a variety of reasons, but not in a way that I can reproduce.  I don't know anything about that graphics set distribution -- if it's just bmps and a graphics txt then it shouldn't matter.  If it's a full package like some of the others, then it might have a problem.

I have this problem as well.  I love the game tons, so i just keep on restarting from an old save.

This corruption happens about 70% of the time on 'save game' process, and wont be noticed until user attempts to reload the game.  Im also pretty sure that it only happens on 64bit OSs.  I play DF on multiple systems, and its highly stable on win XP32, but I see the save problems on win XP64.

Ive been looking all over the net for a solution to this, hope to find help here, thx!!

-plz let me have my crack back.

Been testing this for a while now..

Running DF in XP compatibility mode doesnt seem to help too much, still seeign unstable saves.

Running DF in Windows 95 compatibility mode seems to get a lot more positive results.  no corruption yet.  (knock on wood)
