Error trying to run
« on: August 22, 2006, 08:52:00 pm »

So under the prodding of an addicted friend, I went and downloaded Dwarf Fortress this morning (version: df_21_101_19d).

Upon unzipping and attempting to run it, I get the error message:
Main Index File Missing/Corrupted.
reguardless of whether it attempts to run fullscreen or not.

The index file is definitely there, it's not missing.  And I've tried using my friend's version of the index file (his runs fine) with the same version to no avail.

I would like to try this out and see what his ramblings about a dead dwarf tracking blood all over his mine. Any thoughts/suggestions on what could be causing this error?

Is the index file in the right place?  It needs to be in the data folder.  Also, if you're attempting to run it under wine in linux, it can have this problem, I think.

Well, after looking at things and finding the index in the wrong spot, the rest of the farking files were all amok as well.  Seems someone didn't have winzip setup right, or someone's fuxxoring with my computer.  Either way, the files got put in their corrected location and everything is working just fine.
Thanks for the help.
