seems to imply that it's not an airless vaccume, just a balance of air.

and also states dust could be a severe problem.

(I was advocating this more for the experiance than anything else. Just consider the files lost in space.)

If you can observe the partitions on the drive, then there is some data communication.  You might be able to access and get some data off.

I frequently use TestDisk for this sort of thing.  Considering the BIOS issues it is probably safe to say the thing is now a large clay pigeon. :)
