If you have a big stick, like 4gig, Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries.

I have been playing A LOT of this (Mech Warrior) so I highly recommend this to anyone with two hands. As for the size my MW4 folder comes to 2.14 Gigs, that's with the most up to date release, Mech Packs and all.

Dosbox games. You can probably fit System Shock on a memory card.

Also Master of Magic, Alone in the Dark, and Zork.

Also MechWarrior 4 is playable on keyboard, but a joystick is preferable by far. Which isn't conveniently portable, of course.

I happen to know that System Shock 1 takes up 163mb unpacked. I don't know about SS2 but I recall something like a gig.

Side note: what are the performance hits you take playing a game from a USB card? I assume there's a more limited amount of data flow, so ...

Increased loading times on games that have load times, probably, but not much.

Certainly in the case of system shock a USB is far, far faster than the original floppy disc format.

According to SS2's folder properties on my comp, it's just under 400MB. It's not multi-core friendly, though.

OpenTTD

I recommend using the nightly builds. They are very stable normally.

Keyboard and mouse for MW4. Works like a charm. Incidentally, www.mektek.net for the download.
