Title say sit all really.

I've been searching threads on site finders, but so far I can only find ones for 40d

Thanks.

Looking for one too. I mean, the DF2010 site finder isn't broken, it's just slow and not very useful.

It isn't a new Dwarf Fortress version until we're made to fear some kind of regular creature.  Carp, Elephants, Unicorns, Badgers, and now Mosquitos.  I've got 5 dorfBucks on the next one being plagues of groundhogs.

Should I have stuck with 40d?

I liked some of the new stuff in 2010 and it is the version that is moving forward, correct?  40d is in its final form, correct?

Yes. There is no work being done on 40d. The site finder isn't a good enough reason to stay with 40d. Even the 40d finder was poorly done. exploring the world by hand is more effective.

A service to the forum: clowns=demons, cotton candy=adamantine, clown car=adamantine tube, circus=hell, circus tent=demonic fortress.

exploring the world by hand is more effective.
It takes a little while to be able to 'read' the local screen in the standard biome view, and then to read it in the elevation and steepness views, but you get far better sites from it. Even in 40d it was better to explore manually if you weren't looking for maps with everything.

It comes with practice, really.

I would like an 'Other' search option on the finder though.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I am beginning to understand what you mention above.  Last night I was able to find three really nice sites, each of which I would have thought matched my search parameters.

But scrolling across the map was, ultimately, much more efficient.
