What is the considered opinion of what might happen?

It is a great spot - even Dolomite......

But I have not cracked the military thing yet, so I could not survive if the Elves show up quickly...

If you have invasions off in the .init, then you won't get any civ hostiles until you turn it on.  Of course, once you turn it on Elves will probably come to eat your dwarves but alas.  At least they'll be in crappy wooden armor.

Thanks.

I'll give it a try and see what happens.  Perhaps many elves will get minced eventually..

How'd you go about that? My Elves and Humans, (among other, modded in races, like halflings, jotun, gnomes, kobolds as a civ, etc..) never go to war with my dorfs. I wonder what a world would look like if everyone were at war with each other at all times?

Holy crap, why did I not start watching One Punch Man earlier? This is the best thing.
probably figured an autobiography wouldn't be interesting

dunno.

I created a new world using the perfect world utility and then generated in DF.  There are large areas of the map where the Elves are at war with the Dwarves...

It's part of the history generation so is inherently random. Check the Legends/World Map for civs which overlap and grow/shrink over time which is always a good sign of a war in progress.

Anyone who doesn't have a lever causing global apocalypse isn't playing the game correctly
But it should be easy enough not to use them in a way you feel is dumb while letting other people have their hilarity.
