[33g] Tantrum from raise bridge
« on: January 28, 2008, 02:49:00 pm »

I just had a dwarf through a tantrum because his masterwork crafted bridge was raised by a lever. I got a message saying his masterwork was destroyed and he became miserable and tantrumed everywhere. But his bridge was still there, i just had to pull the lever again to lower it but that didn't cure his case. But it didn't repeat on further raises and lowerings of the bridge.

Are you sure it was the bridge and not something that was on/around the bridge that got destroyed when the bridge was raised?

Aye, there was nothing around it, a moat was underneath it but other than that, maybe some stones but thats it. He was a mason/engraver too so only masons can build the bridge if im not mistaken if its stone.

I don't believe bridges actually get quality ratings.

Last I heard building made of blocks have a sorta 'in the background' ql that effects the happy thought gained from dwarves seeing it.

I thought that ql was affected by the architect skill but I don't think anyone really knows.

EDIT: Even then though the bridge should still exist in game when raised, so I would think he wouldn't be bothered.  Maybe wait a year and raise it again? See if he gets pissed again?

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the cosmos. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips, I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my veins. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk and free throw.

I had that happen to me when i tried to collapse a 7x7 square zone with a support controlled by a lever : when i pulled the lever, i received the message about a masterpiece from the mason being lost, and he went into tantrum as well

I loaded the game and checked : the support didnt have any masterful quality at all, and there was indeed nothing on the floor that collapsed or the floor below it

If the bridge is removed/replaced when raising and lowering, it could possibly count as being "destroyed" by the game program.

In the old version, you could look at bridge qualities through the 'r' menu. Though, it can take a while to actually find it...
Just find the bridge, highlight it, and hit enter.

nope, and the dwarf who tantrumed wasnt a mechanic anyway, just miner/mason/engraver.. so even if the mechanism had been masterful, and destroyed, it wouldn't have been the mason who would tantrum, right?
