"Giving and Kindness" FBs?

Do they behave differently, or do they give the gift of death?

All forgotten beasts have the same behavior at the moment.  It'll still try to kill your dwarves.  Some day Toady may program forgotten beasts to be able to interact with your dwarves in some other way, but not yet.

They are as kind as Santa is in Futurama.

Never seen Beauty and The Beast?
Well me neither, but The Beast in that story seems quite nice.

ehh, no. the Beast kinda kills the good guy that wants to marry the girl (beauty) and than he turns all the cool candle people into real (ugly) people. so the beast is actually the bad guy in that movie

Also, he imprisons the beauty's father and blackmails her into living with him, witholds food from her, and all that. He does spare Gaston.

I'm talking of course about the disney vers.

Someone should probably point this out, so it might as well be me, but dogs and cats are also beasts and outside of dwarf fortress they are generally quite nice

No, no, you don't get it.
The difference is that it is not evil per se, but it still feels threatened when it sees smaller critters with pointy stuff. It panics and tries to defend itself before they hurt it. Or maybe it's dorfophobic.
You should know that just because it's smaller than you in DF doesn't mean it's harmless, anyway! I mean, a population of creatures mostly made out of beards that build magma-spewing megaprojects for breakfast and risk destroying a large part of the landscape, if not the whole continent, by extremely varied means... that's kinda scary.

I don't mean to alarm you, but it appears that your Dwarves are all in fact elephants.

I think I'm going to add a stairway from the surface of my fort all the way to the third cavern and make sure it passes through the first and second.  This way I'd be able to find out what wants to be free.  Maybe forgotten beasts are just looking for ways out of the caverns.  Of course I'll probably end up with a flying fire breathing forgotten beast assaulting my surface assets, but that could be Fun.

But most of the forgotten beasts I've met I've generally gone after and tried to kill.  Maybe they were friendly, I'll never know.  But my dwarfs do know they're quite delicious.  I should look through my dwarfs and see if anyone's developed a preference for Forgotten Beast meat.

Fire isn't much of a problem, it is blocked by shields.

I wouldn't say FBs are scared, just territorial. Problem is, their territory is a quarter of the planet, so you can't just leave.
