Can flying animals travel diagonally upwards?
« on: January 18, 2011, 11:02:14 pm »

Quick question, I'm trying to stop FB with the power of flight from getting into my fortress and I have a quick question.

Suppose I have this system:

X___X
OOOO

X=Wall
_=Floor
O=Empty Space

Can a flying beast travel through this at all?  I ask because in a previous fortress I had everything sealed yet FB would somehow manage to end up inside my fort from time to time.

With [SLOW_LEARNER], dwarves probably don't sit around and talk anymore. They just stand in the same corner altogether, staring at each other, sticking their bearded lips out trying to make sounds. And giggling when someone actually says a whole word.

No.

The beasts from your last fort probably came through a forgotten diagonal wall or a bug:

z0      z-1
▓▓▓     777
▓X▓     ▓▓▓
▓▓▓     ▓▓▓

▓ = wall
7 = water or magma
X = down (or up/down) stair

Creatures that can swim can warp through the wall and get onto those stairs.
