What happens to rooms when they fall?
« on: January 17, 2011, 07:24:26 am »

If I create a hanging room, and detach the support and let it fall many z-levels, does it maintain its shape when it lands or does it flatten? I want to find out if its possible to go magma pipe diving.

If it's made out of natural rock, it'll flatten.

If it's constructed manually by dwarves, it will disintegrate into its components and sink to the bottom.

Search the forums for 'magma submarine'.  This has been discussed many times.  It appears to be impossible.
