A few manager issues
« on: August 21, 2006, 04:04:00 pm »

1) Managers won't make use of multiple workshops. I have three mason workshops, and the manager just queues everything in the closest one and ignores the others. Same with my three carpenters shops.

2) You have multiple orders for the same product (IE 22 charcoal at the top of your priority list, and further down 5 more). When one is completed, it takes one off of the remaining for each order. IE you have:

Charcoal 22/22
brass bars 22/22
Charcoal 5/5
silver bars 5/5

and after one charcoal bar is produced, you have:

Charcoal 21/22
brass bars 22/22
Charcoal 4/5
silver bars 5/5

I assume this is a bug.

3) You are almost certainly aware, but if you  simply queue up, say, 5 bronze swords, the jobs will just fail over and over if you don't have any bronze, even if you have bronze ore and wood (he won't order the charcoal and bars made, in other words)

Strange, they are supposed to use multiple shops.  It should be an easy fix, since the code is already there.

Yeah, the manager wasn't meant to handle chains of production at this point.  This will probably be part of the larger transportation/automation programming arc up on the dev pages now.

My manager used multiple shops fine, he usually distrubuted tasks evenly most of the time.

Well the same mason's shop has been working on 40 tables and chairs while the other two sit idle... I can send my save or something if you need it, just ask.

Edit: Yeah, I just tried it again and everything was queued at the same shop. Also, I don't know if its intentional, but I tried adding 44 coffers and cabinets and it only added 30 of each.

Work quotas are currently capped at 30 for no good reason.  It's odd that the jobs are being distributed like that.  I'll note to go over it at some point.

Well, interestingly, I saved and came back after a few hours and re-loaded the game and he seems to have distributed the jobs properly now.

He doesn't seem to notice any workshops that weren't there when you loaded the game.
