not reclaiming items

I'm playing my first game of DF and am loving it. I followed along with the complete and utter newby tutorials. However, my fortress was overtaken by goblins! I reclaimed my fort and need to start reclaiming items. I've rebuilt stockpiles, but I can't seem to get the dwarves to reclaim everything. I've used 'd,b,c,enter,space' to designate, set item proper, reclaim but they won't get anything unless I go to each individual item with 'k' and click 'f'. That would take forever with all the items around, why can't I just do the mass reclaim?

I think that's a known bug

There was an utility for that, but not in 31.18 I'm afraid (got that problem too)
