Insanity
« on: January 15, 2011, 01:42:21 pm »

So.
I was playing one of my old 40d forts because nostalgia.  I got the king and consort and such, and was... a little late in finishing rooms.  The King is now stark raving mad and the Advisor is melancholy.  The Queen Consort could care less.  My question:
Are there any utilties or mods (for 40d) to remove insanity?  I always lose royalty like this, and I wanted to keep this guy sane and clothed.

The Queen Consort could care less.
How much less?

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

She is curently happy, while her husband is miserable.  It all seems rather sinister.  Maybe when her husband and his advisor dies, she will become supreme dwarven leader.

As far as I know, no modding tool can fix insanity.

If you drop the business end of a drawbridge on a dwarf, it instantly removes the insanity.

I haven't come across any mod that will remove insanity without killing the dwarf, I believe it is coded in their DNA.

Also what you mean to say is "could not care less" which implies that you don't care for it at all.  Saying that you could care less means you actually do care.

Hrm, thanks for the help.  I guess one out of three ain't bad.
And everyone I know uses "could care less" to signify uncaringness.  Maybe it's an example of regional slang/speech patterns/whatever.

Thank you.
I have now discovered another British thing (besides Monty Python) that I can watch without attempting suicide.  However, I will continue to use my Americanisms however I like, be they grammatically incorrect or just plain irritating to you.  I understand how it is wrong, but it is a part of my personal and regional lexicon: it's use has become habitual.
So, in short, I could care less.

How dare you insult the rest of us Americans by calling something blatantly nonsensical an "Americanism."

EDIT:  I didn't watch the youtube video, but seriously, "could care less" doesn't even make sense.  I, and most people I know, realized this when they were eleven years old.  In my opinion there's a difference between colloquialism and just plain incorrect.

EDIT:  I'm not trying to be critical, its just a peeve of many Americans as well.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

The more I think of it, the more I come to realize it is one of the dumbest things to say.  I, however, refuse to let go of "a whole 'nother."

Insanity isn't something that can be changed, as all dwarfs ae insane from birth. (Ex: "Dwarven Baby cancels clean self: Too insane.")  The real issue occurs when the dwarf realizes the level of their insanity.  Once they've made it that far, once they know, there's no turning back.  They can never unknow.  By that point they could all care less.
