33f: Tame dragon not actually tame
« on: December 16, 2007, 05:47:00 pm »

Critter tamed by a DM in 33e or so.  Released under f and proceeded to start slaughtering dwarves.  It's not just the fire I think, since I have temp turned off.  Strangely enough it obeys "keep tightly shut" doors and made no attempt to otherwise destroy buildings.

I think that's normal for dragons. The same thing happens with elephants if they got a name by killing dwarfs, even if they're later captured and tamed they're still dwarf killers.

Did the dragon kill anyone *before* being tamed?

Doesn't matter if he did, Mega Beasts come with a name so will never truly be tamed.

Yeah, she got my CotG before being captured.  It's fine that the behavior is "untamable;" the game just shouldn't claim that they are tamed.

Do you really want a tame dragon?  I mean, it sounds cool, but...

Snatcher!  Protect the Children!
FOOSH!
FOOSH!

... fortress burns down.

Poor planning: Make sure there aren't any flammable objects in areas where you want the dragon to protect.

...This includes chaining the dragon with silk ropes.

This is a fox skull helmet. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It menaces with spikes of fox bone and is encircled with bands of fox leather. This item is haunted by the ghost of Alfador Angrorung the fox.

So, some more data.  A second captured dragon, which had slain no dwarves was NOT violent upon taming/release.  The still pissed-off dragon is trap-immune by virtue of being tame.  Also they wouldn't breed  :(

Not silk ropes, fireproof metal chains.
