So this is my first time taking a crack at creating something that's actually alive. Since I'm a fan of the Slenderman Mythos, I thought I'd mod in the man himself.

If you know what you're doing whenever you mod in creatures, it'd be nice if you could look it over and tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Things to change:
  • ANY_BIOME is not a tag. Use BIOME:ALL_MAIN instead (this will result in them being generated underwater; use ANY_LAND for only land).
  • I'm not sure of the implications of using HOMOTHERM:NONE. You'd probably be better off giving it FIXED_TEMP:(something neutral/cold) instead.
  • You mention LAIR but don't list a lair type to use. The LAIR token should read LAIR:(type):(frequency).
  • LAIR_HUNTER_SPEECH points to a file in ~\data\speech, not a string. Refer to the MINOTAUR entry in creature_standard.txt.
  • LARGE_ROAMING is listed twice.
  • NATURAL_SKILL looks for an integer, not a string (1 is dabbling, 2 novice, 3 adequate, etc.).
  • Not sure what UNDERSWIM does to the AI of land-based creatures. It might actively seek out water to swim in, or something.
  • INTELLIGENT implies CAN_SPEAK so UTTERANCES might not work. I suggest replacing INTELLIGENT with CAN_LEARN.
  • There are two consecutive colons in the bodypart list.
  • Is GENERAL_POISON applicable to something this otherworldly?

Also the errorlog tends to catch a lot of modding errors. Mind you it doesn't tell you what to do right, just what you've done wrong.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Ah yes the error log. Completely forgot to look at that.
Also, thank you 3. Whenever I tried spawning Slendy in the Arena, it would crash Dwarf Fortress. Now I can spawn him without any problems. Still have some issues to work out but once those are out of the way everything will be fine.

That ([BENIGN]) tag allows the creature to show up on benign maps.  Which I think is appropriate for the Slender Man (ie, he's usually found near people)?  I don't know much about him.

I changed it to evil, because i found it more fitting that something such as him would be stalking you in a region like that.
Also, he's pretty damn hard to kill in hand to hand fights. I've had two Slender Men fighting each other for the past several minutes now, and one of them is Grand Master in everything CQC related. The other Slender Man has sustained injuries that would have killed a normal dwarf several times over.

Keep in mind there's benign maps (where civs can exist), savage maps (where only elves and perhaps goblins can exist) and also neutral maps, where civs can exist and creatures don't need that tag to show up.

Also, he's a megabeast. Megabeasts basically attack wherever they want, and biomes don't mean quite so much to them.
