Urist McPussy, legendary axedorf is currently loafing around my hospital with a stubbed toe, refusing to stand and yours are scarred from head to freaking toe and ready to go beat some more gobbies? WHERE IS THE FAIRNESS IN THAT.

I'd be more worried about their livers.
A dwarf's liver is twice the size of a human's

Re-fixed.

Back on-topic: Pancreases are purely vestigial at the moment, along with kidneys, stomachs, and other assorted organs. At worst, they'll cause pain, bleeding and nausea when damaged, but no actual lasting symptoms.

But just in case, keep them away from the Dwarven Syrup.

Yeah, in the future you probably shouldn't strike the earth quite so hard

Thanks for the help, more of the dust got tracked in than I first had assumed and so a good segment of the population is in the hospital right now. It seems they go on living a normal life with a rotten pancreas after diagnosis (which can take a while). The only problem seems to be the occasional person succumbing to infection while in the hospital. I ended up using DF CleanMap to clear up any of the dust that was left over. Otherwise everything is going well with another goblin ambush thwarted and a goblin disposal system involving magma almost complete!
