Adding civilisations to a save

Hi,

Not sure if this belongs here or some other forum, but I'm wondering if there's a way to modify the civilisations around your fort?

I've been going for about 5 years or so and have yet to get an elf/human caravan, and haven't seen a single goblin either, all of which I'd like to change without starting an entirely new fort if possible.

Dwarf fortress... The only place where it is a viable economic alternative to use silver for bulk storage of random trinkets.

I'm pretty sure you have to gen a new world for any added civs to take effect. There's a modding section you could ask though...
