Almost all mods are a labor of love, I have yet to see any coordinated mods that were created by a group of people intentionally...  (maybe soundsense)

If you want your mod it will be almost entirely built by you. 

That being said if you have any questions feel free to ask because there is a helpful character or two who trundles along every now and again.

As a freebie I read over your design kinda carefully and I think you are going to really want to consider using this to create your map designs with ->

PerfectWorldDF Utility to make your own world in any manner you want and how you want it to be. You want a world that looks like a smiley face or the united states? THIS IS THE UTILITY! (stolen from my thread for you =)

With that you will be able to get the maps you want and the settings you want and be able to distribute them as a map settings file for people to generate their maps with.

PS. if you do use that utility make sure your .NET is up to date.   It has some severe issues if it is not.

Assuming your hard drive hasn't been wiped yet try making an Ubuntu Linux boot disc, with that you should be able to get into your HDD and back stuff up onto a flash drive, depending of course on what is wrong with it.

So what's the fauna on Mars going to be like? And how are you going to make grass-covered fields look Martian? My advice for the second would be to keep them to a minimum with world-gen settings and characterise them as terraformed areas, and leave the others as red sand deserts

Fauna? I wasn't thinking of any Fauna besides the underground Martian natives and the relative creatures. These are the aboveground fauna
Martian Slugs-High bashing damage, very very large. Comes in swarms, only found in the desert. Burrows into ground.
Martian Lynx-Much like a wolf, except extremely powerful. Found everywhere on mars, little hair.
Any more suggestions?

Well, I'd make it the stock sci-fi world generator to DF's stock fantasy world generator. Stick in every alien from every film, TV show or game you've ever seen - or thinly veiled versions thereof.

I think you should have some form of martians in it, but I dont think they should be cliche, they are an alien culture so make them truly alien, they evolved under different conditions. it would probably be more work that way though as you would have to create different buildings, clothing, weapons, and all other stuff for them

Oh you lost interest? a shame, I am in the early stages of making an alien planet mod, it will take place on a semi-earth like world with 2 very different alien cultures on it. and alot of unique species of alien animals and plants.
