American McGee's Alice
« on: January 04, 2011, 01:54:04 am »

I've recently stumbled across American McGee's Alice, thanks to the sarcastic geniuses over at Cracked.

Judging from the trailer, it looks pretty cool.

Any opinions from those who've played it?

Great game even though I never finished it.
The humor, imagery, and atmosphere are spot on, and the level design is clever.

I would check it out, though the new one is coming out next year or so.

It's an awesome game. The atmosphere and the game design are great. I especially loved the weapons. Just go play it, you won't be disappointed!

Pretty much what meta said. Also, AMG does a great job with a liner-but-hidden-easter-eggs. I'm very much looking forwards to AMG's Alice II coming out this year.

Good game. I played it through once and uninstalled after, completed the whole thing in a day or so (I had a lot of free time). Only real problems I had with it were the lack of widescreen support (I had it at a default resolution that completely cut off the power/mana bar, making me wonder why things didn't work half the time) and the somewhat wonky third person shooter mechanics, but the story more than made up for it.

Eagerly awaiting the second one.

Story is great. Deeper than initially realized, at a glance. Level Design is solid, game-play is good, it's twisted enough without being too stupid. Cleverly adapted from the source material, and the second one looks to improve on all of these things. Can only hope.
It's a definite childhood favorite of mine.

Played the demo when it was new, time well spent.
