and i thought ours (UK) was bad.

The labour gov in the uk had a maxim, that a deficit is not a problem if have you have the ability to pay it back, i guess the US will test this maxim, or start austerity measures like europe come next government.

Yet we make more money than you.

having a larger economy should make deficit reduciton easier, but given the size of the deficit, you will still need growth to avoid austerity. Simply having a larger economy will not solve problems in its self.
