Computer troubles
« on: December 28, 2010, 09:50:12 am »

Last night, my computer (a desktop) shut down. Not crashed, it suddenly lost power. And now, it won't turn on. Any ideas as to what's causing this?

What do you mean "lost power"? It just turned off?

Did anything else in your house turn off?

Look inside your case. Anything unusual there?

It might just be PSU troubles. It's happened to me before with another desktop.

could be a mother board problem, I've got an old computer that refuses to turn back on though the light flickers, it's got a ton of wiring that needs replacing....

doesn't sound good... if something did happen to the power supply, it could have taken the motherboard with it...
what does happen when you try to turn it on?

It is on for a while, then eventually shuts down again. As the problem has been identified and the replacement PSU should be arriving soon, there is no longer any need for this thread and I am locking it.
