when you create a cave in, does it only punch through floors if theres a tunnel underneath, or can walls be built up high, natural rock caved in intentionally on top to reform into natural rock walls [is that possible even? I read something about cave ins turning all the rock falling into individual tile rocks until landing then reforming together...] and create a natural "roof" by using a huge amount of scaffolds and artificial walls to hold the rock up high when it caves down.
would something like this work...
side view, before:
zlv4+ N| RRRRRRRRRRR
zlv3 N| S
zlv2 N| WWWWWWW
zlv1 N| WWWWWWW
zlv0 N|________________WWWWWWW___________
R:Rock wall, mined material built on top
S:support: linked to a mechanism to remove
W:temporary/permanent wall tile, any material, removable at a later time, but used to provide a buffer for the cavein
N:Natural unmined wall
After collapse:
zlv4+ N|
zlv3 N| NNNNNNNNNN
zlv2 N| WWWWWWW
zlv1 N| WWWWWWW
zlv0 N|_______________WWWWWWW____________
When "S" is removed, "R" will all collapse down, but if the ground beneath is a full tile block [a wall] would it stop the upper level from falling farther, thus creating a "natural" sun break and making the tiles under "inside"? or would they stay permanently outside when exposed, even once?
and end up with something like :
zlv4+ N|
zlv3 N| NNNNNNNNNN
zlv2 N| W[insert garden here]
zlv1 N| WWWWWWW
zlv0 N|________________W______________________
and of course expand it from just once branch to:
zlv9+
zlv8 NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
zlv7 N[insert garden here]
zlv6 [and here] NNNNNNNNNN
zlv5 __ NNNNNNNNNNNNNN
zlv4 N| N [ooooh pretty tree]
zlv3 N| NNNNNNNNNN ____
zlv2 N| W[insert MORE garden here]|N
zlv1 N| WWWWWWW |N
zlv0 N|_________________W_________________________|N
oh, alternative idea if the above doesn't work, what about a small obsidian casing over where you want to plant the garden if the above idea doesn't work? Or would an obsidian cast have the revealed to sun issue as well as a roof would?
