Imps are demonic creatures, and demonic creatures are often associated with fire.  There are probably hundreds of thousands of things you could consider "imps" that are on fire in media throughout history.  Unless there's a link more meaningful than "you found something else called a fire imp in some other game", then I'm thinking this is just something you only noticed because you spend too much time trying to compare what you find on the Internet to Dwarf Fortress.
