In 40d I got a fully-automated water factory going on a freezing climate using magma to melt/unmelt water constantly. I know of no reason why it couldn't be extended to 2010.

Yup, this works just fine. Only drawback is that it will eat up your FPS, but its very simple in operation. All you need is to have the water exposed to the freezing surface and then pump magma under the water. Only a small amount of magma is needed, and only pumped intermittently. The key is to allow less than 7/7 water to freeze, then be melted back into 7/7 water. The extra water can run off into a cistern underground so it doesn't freeze.

Or you can just dig down into the caverns. Caverns have a nearly guaranteed endless supply of water.
