Suggestion: about taking lessons from university.
« on: December 24, 2010, 11:01:04 am »

Hi. I have been playing LCS for quiet a long time and I still love this game.
I played latest version of LCS and I loved the idea of getting lessons from university district.
Not only it helps me on training new recruits, It teaches them DODGE skill!!! Yahoooo!!!

But then I had this feeling, that it makes the game too easy, maybe?
So I thought, how about making these lessons take times as a term, not a day?

That way we'll have to be careful about sending them to university, in case we need their help in the field.
Or it may actually help them. Because if enemies attacked the base, they'll be safe at the university.

English is not my mother tongue so I'm sure I made few mistakes. Sorry!

Sounds like a pretty good idea. Taking about three months per lesson, but teaching high levels of skill.

I don't think that's needed. The classes cost 60$ a day, which is a pretty large amount if you grind with it.

I forgot about money. Looks like It will take a lot of money if it's made into terms.

Yeah, But with a decent hacker doing credit card fraud you bring in over 1000 a month, iirc. Plus it'd be payed over a period of time after each term.

I sort of like the idea of the liberal actually having to be "away" in order to take the classes.  It could even be measured month-to-month, as that seems to be how the game is programmed (I admit that I am totally not a programmer, but that just seems the pattern).

It also has interesting parallels to how radical liberals in the 60s and 70s would "hide out" among academia.

Especially if your liberals become "sleepers" at the university while taking classes.

I do think that criminal characters (or rather ones with crimes set against them) shouldn't be able to enter university with a cool phrase like "You didn't clear the background check"

Criminal records don't prevent college education in the U.S.

You can take college courses by mail while sitting on death row in the U.S.

Now, perhaps the police may want to speak to you after class, but anyone on America's Most Wanted risks capture (or death) when they enter public places...

Not a criminal record. The fact that you are wanted

Can you really take classes with an APB?

perhaps the classes could cost the same/similar but still take out a significant period of time (say a week or month)   They don't have to be university credit classes, just some of the ones they give like dance.

Cooler yet might be: every thursday is out for a month or year.

Even dodgeball?

I too like the university but agree that it might make things a little easy. I don't think it's possible to master certain skills through education in real life and nor should it be in game; I suggest caps to the skill gained through education to simulate this. Perhaps you should only be able to learn a certain percentage of your max skill in any skill through education? Someone new to a skill could get a good head start while someone experienced could get some pointers to truly master a skill.

On the topic of dodgeball and the suggestion of month long classes: I like the mechanic but perhaps some classes such as dodgeball don't fit this so well?

I also have some extra class suggestions but have no idea where is appropriate to post them.

Here, a new thread, the stickied thread... pretty much anywhere that it seems remotely relevant is probably fine.

I have a question, cause I haven't actually got a chance to download the update yet, but, Can people fail their classes? or is it just a case of insert coin to boost skill?

Insert coin to boost skill. Of course, there are a few caveats. 60$ a day is not as small as it seems, especially if you need to train multiple people. Also, the normal skill caps apply - and if your liberal is taking college courses, no raiding -> no juice. Also, since only a few combat skills may be trained, the college works as a marvellous boost for non-combat sqads.
