Fire on sand (in the desert) makes steam
« on: December 11, 2006, 09:53:00 pm »

Starting a fire on a bush/tree that is on a yellow sand square results in steam.  That's a yellow sand square out in the middle of the desert, far from any source of water.

This seems to be a bug... perhaps the game thinks that it is tundra or something?

Weird.  Should be easy to fix.  Then we can pretend it didn't happen.

*gulp*

Actually, I just tried it again and noticed that it wasn't sand, it was dry yellow grass squares.  Anyway, it was a yellow square of dry grass, and no water nearby.  Still a bug?

Sorry for the misleading bug report.

Yeah, grass shouldn't steam -- but was it dry mud?  Like the brown double ~ from a dry swamp?  I think those steam now (and that's a bug).

Hmm,

I will send an adventurer to the area in question and then copy the save file for you.

The square was definitely described as "dry grass" and the color of the tile was yellow.  I lit plants on several parts of the local site map, all resulting in steam, so I guess that it is something about that particular site that is causing it.  When I find the place again, I will let you know!

OK, I have found the map where everything steams when set on fire for no apparent reason.  Actually, it IS on sand in this case.  I guess there must have been two maps, one was grass and this one is sand.

let me know if you want the save files

Ah, it was amateur hour...  I was way too permissive on the map types.  I'll get this sorted.
