Time for some narration without pictures...(on a mac at school)
Date: somewhen in later spring...
Thar comes a time in a forts life when the surface becomes a dull lifeless wasteland... devoid of trees... devoid of plants... Devoid of life... And devoided of any useable rock whatsoever....
When that day came to black ale, there was only one thing to do. And that was to DIG!
Now truth be told I did not really have a reason to send Dwarfs, Dwarfs who, before being dragged to here by me in my task to create history, had nothing to do with the soil; they did not own a plow, a pick, or even an axe, before coming...
We had plenty of trees to cut, coal to mine, ground hogs to hunt, And we mined out part of the mountainous glacier for shelter defended by a lone moat and hidden from view from the west by a large hill... even an occasional zombie yeti would appear, and then disappear do to our divine agility...
But I still sent the dwarves to dig below.
And below they did go...
Now there was one thing to be addressed before we decided to start digging...
Where do we dig? Although we did have a sizable fort mined, I had decided from the start that we should not have any connection to the area that would connect the surface to the core least our fortress be destroyed from the inside out;Instead of Nobly fighting to the last dwarf against anything that would come from the depths we would all be slain while our backs are turned...
I had decided to mine the hilled area in the area west of the fort, It would be suitably defendable And I rigged the entrance to collapse incase something were to happen.
Under the pretense of "searching for Magma and adamantian" (which I highly doubt even existed in this desolate place...)
I had sent the order for my newly trained miners to dig to the depths...
