I like the approach taken by the artist of Bravemule (surely you have all seen this  AWESOME LP by now?) His female dwarves are neither hot nor beardy. They're just badass. And female. http://www.bravemule.com/gr51/ - scroll down for an example of swordsdwarfship.

No, she doesn't look like a superhero, but superheroes aren't all that dwarfy, are they? I think she is a pretty realistic representation of a woman whose life is a long drinking session punctuated by swordfights.

She looks like somebody I know of.

I don't know what's worse, that I can do that dance, or the fact this was the most voted comment:

"@lalakers23kb Your just angry and saying that because when you fingered your sister you found your dads wedding ring"
I'm actually mildly disappointed that he took the time to spell out "you". It is so close to the Platonic ideal of a YouTube comment. So. Close. Oh internet, what have you done to me?
Naw. The "your" is used properly, and... oh. Wait. Nope. The first one isn't.
Man, yor rite.

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.
