Dwarves get disturbed by traffic, so having them path through eachothers bedrooms is not nice.  :-\
They do not get disturbed pathing through my 1x1 grid cell rooms, so this cannot be true.

Are doors important in a housing complex?  None of my dwarf rooms have doors.

i tend for the 3*1 system too with bed container and cabinet .. i guess even the latter is quite im portant for any cloth collector types

3*1 is win. I stick them off to one side, then workshops, then stockpiles on the other side of the workshops.

I usually work with a 6*1 or 5*1 with noble rooms just beeing a bit longer then adding engravings on everything and you are done.

I go for massive noble rooms, I tend to go for a rather medieval feel, I name champions Knights and planters serfs... Then I rig up three windmills to power my millstones and plot for a magma surrounded clear glass tomb.

Oh you're right. Traffic was listed under the non-noise part of the wiki

I did! "He slept uneasily due to noise lately", or thoughts about these lines.

My dwarves get 8 by 8 rooms, but they have to share with 15 others.

Why?

I can add a lever, a pillar, a cabinet,chest, weapon racks, armor racks, gears and all sorts of items that give the manic depressives something to look at.   And I only need one for every 16 dorfs.
