Mystery condition, dwarfs won't go to doctor.

Around when I started the game, I had a dwarf that was bleeding everywhere and walking slow. She had some pain and trouble breathing, and when I looked at her description, it said both of her lungs had rotted. She never wanted to be diagnosed and wouldn't go to the doctor. At the end of my first year, she died.

Now, my Fortress' leader has a similar problem. He's dizzy and has pain, but he has no marker to get diagnosed, and if I order him to stop doing anything, he just stands around. I checked his bio and he doesn't seem to have anything wrong there, and there were no attacks or cave-ins as far as I can tell.

Can you save my Fortress Leader?

!!Elves!! would actually be kinda cool as a civ symbol.  !!Clowns!!, however, you get the impression they're on fire of their own free, malicious, evil, will.

Also, much scarier if literally clowns.

Nope. I'm only a bit more than a year into my game. I did start with a small portion of my area as in a Terrifying Barrens,  but most of the area is some kind of neutral woodlands.

You can press "r" to check combat reports.  Maybe he got bit by something?

Try drafting him, building a retracting bridge over a 1 z-level pit, ordering him to station onto it, and dropping him until he gets injured.
This should force him to go to the hospital, where the lung rot may be treated.

1-z is never high enough to damage a dwarf.  you need 2-z at the minimum to hurt anything.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

It serves him/her right for not going to the doctor when the doctor mailed them those little postcards.

Well, I tried dropping him a single z-level for awhile times and it didn't hurt him. His lungs started to rot away. I got attacked by a bunch of skelatal camels a little bit after and my under-equipped milita got torn to shreads.

Abandon Fortress.
