game stutter

anyone else encounter this? it only happens when me and my friend try to play a succession. we pass the file back and forth via an open tracker. he'll play his turn and then pass it to me. i'll play for 5 minutes fine and then the game starts to stutter uncontrollably, eventually making it unplayable. this has happened twice now. nothing is freezing, or anything like that. pretty frustrating. never had it happen otherwise, in the dozens of forts i have run on .18 it has NEVER happened, aside from twice now it happens when my friend passes me a save. both running vanilla .18

Have you checked your operating system's processes? Maybe an antivirus is running a scan at the time you are playing.

nothing, i have fast RAM and i shut down everything that isn't DF. fps runs at max if it's not stuttering. beyond bizarre.

I've been experiencing the same thing, i assumed it was just my laptop overheating.
