Funky Maps
« on: December 08, 2010, 11:29:52 pm »

Ok so I love lakes that are frozen solid in the winter. I seek them out, I build into and out of them, GLEAMING TOWERS OF ICE! LINKED BY BRIDGES! BRIDGES NOT MADE OF ICE BECAUSE THEY MELT IN THE SUMMER!

I just installed my new motherboard and memory, and the new hardware is making some very creative maps. I wish to share these maps. I've generated 3 worlds, the first is unexplored... but I believe there is a large number of volcanos, the second world developed a large rectangular pit on the bottom left on my second embark, everything is excavated from this pit except for the magma sea and some other spoiler components, some of which attacked me as soon as the game started.

Make another world because my poor little mason spent 30 minutes serving as a decoy while all my other dwarves rushed everything into the underground chambers. Here is a picture of the first embark on the new world: http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/6562/76767875.png Thats the start of a 18z tall spire of Adamantine. Also notice the image shows a z-level of 100. I scroll south... and find a pit... that passes through all 3 underground chambers into the lava sea.

I don't know how to save these worlds for other people, once I figure out how I can share them. My second world looks to be the inverse of http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=61507.0

That's what cages and minecart shotguns are for!  We don't need to control them.  We just need to aim them.

Are you sure they melt in the summer?  I could have sworn that most constructions are invincible...  though perhaps that's literately only b->Constructions, not bridges... *shrugs*  Microcline looks like ice, as Xenos has noted.

construct floors, and if you want BRIDGES for their ability to close, just make a mircoline one in the middle of the constructed area.
