as you might see near the bottom catapult ... the arrow heads are sticking through walls, doors, etc...

wonder what it'll look like when the ballista is loaded... sticking through fortification?

Actually, when loaded, it lines up perfectly on the ballista (which is also 3 tiles long.)

The problem is that the arrows are 3 tiles long, but the dwarves treat it like it's only 1 tile long, so like you said, both the front and back of the arrow will stick out into things. I'd suppose a fix would be to make each one require 3 consecutive spaces in your storage piles - I wonder if that's currently even possible.

It would be very annoying to have 3-wide items actually stored that way, just like it would be annoying to make multi-square animals path-find.  I just made the ballista arrows 3 squares for fun, but a dragon or a titan fit in one square, so I could add a "1 square" ballista arrow option if you want...  I guess they'd still be 3 squares in the ballista and probably when they are flying too.  I don't mind the way they overflow the stockpiles, but that's me.

as long as some nut don't go around claiming an arrow defaced their wall or doors don't go around claiming it's held ajar and let the flood in
